The Mansion, which is both a Virginia and National Historic Landmark, was restored and furnished with antiques in the early 20th century. The original rooms across the front of the mansion contain most of their original woodwork, plaster cornices, and ornamental ceilings. During the Civil War, the Mansion served as the center of state leadership, when Richmond was the Capitol of the Confederate States of America. Tours are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with extended tours during Garden Week.
The 9th street Bell Tower is home to the Virginia Travel Counselors. In addition to a small gift shop, you can get travel assistance and information for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
